Office Furniture: For the Kids

January 15, 2008 · 2 Comments

In today’s computer driven world office furniture isn’t just for adult; kids need them also. And with children becoming computer literate at a younger age all the time (I know several three year olds that can navigate on the computer and play video games better than me!), it’s important that they, too, have proper computer chairs.

The first thing to keep in mind is the age of the child. If you are purchasing a chair for a one or two year old, or a very small child, I would recommend looking into wooden or upholstered chairs that don’t have wheels on the bottom. These chairs are the safest option for your toddler or grandchild; being low to the ground and sturdy protects the child from easy spills.

For an older child, 3 to 12 years of age, who are not big enough to properly fit into an adult chair, there are many options to choose from. It’s important to consider an ergonomic chair. With children spending more and more time at the computer every day, it is import to help support their growing and developing body with ergonomics. Adults feel the aches and pains of sitting in a poor chair, but even worse would be for a child to develop a poor spine due to long hours playing video games and “studying.” Ergonomic options would include a pneumatic lift, tension control, lumbar support, head rests, and armrests.

Children’s computer chairs come in many different styles. I would recommend a fabric or mesh upholstery over leather. Many models also offer a molded foam seat and back to enhance comfort

My favorite aspect of a Child’s Office Computer Chair is the array of colors, fabric styles, and even character designs. You can find a Child’s Chair in virtually every color, perfect to match their bedroom or playroom. They come in neons, pastels, stripes, polka dots, princesses, racecars, dogs, cats, and almost anything else you can imagine. Have fun with your kid, and ensure that your loved ones are being taken care of even while sitting in front of the computer.

Office Furniture: The Via Swopper Stool

January 12, 2008 · 1 Comment

The Swopper stool, made by Via is currently in a class all of it’s own. With it’s truly unique ergonomic design concepts and style of sitting, the VIA has won over it’s many critics once they have spent time testing the design. When first viewed by someone unaware of it’s ergonomic presence, it may seem just a high-end and stylish stool with great presence. It is very modern with the coordinating coils giving just a hint as to the true inner workings of the Swopper motion seating experience.

Once seated in the Swopper stool, your spine can definitely feel the relaxed and yet stretched perfectly position of the spine and lower lumbar region. The lower lumbar can feel truly relaxed and although the seated position of the Swopper may look hard to keep, once seated, the user realizes how easy it is to stay in the position without effort. The design of the Swopper keeps your feet flat on the floor and your back in the correct position, even without any backrest at all.

The standard Swopper featured in the VIA Quick Ship Program has an ultrasuede fabric which is helpful for its gripping qualities to hold the user in place. The Swopper is also available in a large variety of custom ordered fabrics including leather and many different patterns available. The VIA custom ordered Swopper Stool has a choice of two different base choices, titanium or anthracite (charcoal gray). Either base is available through the custom ordered Swopper program although the quick ship program is only sold with the anthracite base. A wooden backrest is even available as an option for custom ordered Swopper’s.

With strong support from it’s purchaser’s and ranking high in customer satisfaction while winning many prestigious office furniture design awards, the Swopper Chair is here to stay. This author would rank it as one of my most unique seating experiences with real comfort ability for long periods. Using one for a week to “test drive” it, I could feel some pressure released from my spine and got a ton of compliments and questions from everyone who saw it. It truly wins many hearts with it’s beautiful, unique and ergonomic styled design and health benefits.

Office Chairs: The Incredible Mesh Office Chair

January 4, 2008 · 1 Comment

When picking the right chair for your office, one of the first decisions to be made is concerning your choice concerning type of material to have your chair upholstered in. In the past, most chairs were upholstered in fabric or leather. But in the early 90’s the highly durable mesh material hit the market and has become popular ever since.

How the mesh material is incorporated into modern chairs varies, but many recent mesh chairs have started integrating a mesh back with a fabric or leather seat. Th rise in popularity of mesh desk chairs is due to the materials ability to adapt to individual users, flexing to create specific zones of support not offered by the many traditional office chairs.

Mesh back chairs are an especially excellent choice for people who sit in hot offices for hours at a time. The mesh material allows the back of the chair to “breath”, giving the user a more comfortable and less sweaty experience.

As you look into purchasing a mesh chair, keep in mind that not all chairs are created equal. Many of the cheap chairs are very stiff and don’t offer the proper support or flexibility. Look for a mesh chair that is highly adjustable, with functions such as lumbar, height and back adjustments, and a material that is not too soft nor too stiff.

Finding the perfect chair can make the office more comfortable and help relieve some of the stress from work. There are many mesh chair selections, but may I recommend the “Matrex Mesh Office Chair Ergonomic Executive Air Grid” or the “Black Mesh Mid Back Ergonomic Modern Office Chair.” Enjoy comfortable sitting!
